Notes |
Before 1878 Lutherans around Rutersville were served by Pastor Merz and Pastor H. Pfenninger who were employed by the Lutheran College. After the college closed, they organized under the name of Lutheran St. Petri congregation but soon disbanded without a leader. In 1894 Lutheran services were desired again and it was decided to build a new church and call a Lutheran minister. The new congregation held the first service in the new church on October 5, 1895 and a constitution was adopted and signed by the members present. In 2017, St. John Lutheran Church at Rutersville is part of a Shared Lutheran Ministry of Fayette County along with St. Paul Lutheran Church of Fayetteville, St. John Lutheran Church of Ellinger, and St. John Lutheran Church of Warrenton - in Texas. Items are added to these files as the archives receives them. |
