St. Peter's congregation of Ander was organized in January of 1875 as Colleto Lutheran Church but had already begun meeting at Eighteen (18) Mile Colleto Creek in December of 1874 The first name for Ander was Hanover, sometimes referred to as New Hanover. There was also a community named Weser near that location.
