This congregation voted to disaffiliate from the ELCA, SWT Synod. A second vote was held on Sunday, April 23, 2023; letter to synod office dated April 24, 2023. Folder 1 is the SWT synod file of letters of call, correspondence, constitution, congregationsl reports, etc.. There were several preaching points and early congregations around Gonzales: Maurin, Osso, Cost, the Keck community and Ottine were preaching points and Christ Lutheran Church in Monthalia and Zion Lutheran Church in Nixon were two congregations. The pastor from Monthalia preached in Ottine Christ Lutheran of Monthalia and First Lutheran Church of Gonzales became a parish in 1921 with shared pastors. The Luling Mission was started in 1938. It became First Lutheran Church with Pastor Walter Wolf.. The Monthalia congregation disbanded in 1945. Their records are at First Lutheran in Gonzales. Items are added to these files as the archives receives them. |
