A collection of oddities, memorabila, and other miscellaneous objects, articles, letters, etc. that have been found by the archives' volunteer cataloguers in the archives' collections that were deemed only vaguely, or not at all, pertinent to the individual collection, but of some interest to the history of the period and therefore worthy of being kept. 1. Yellow 12" ruler advertising Wollie Radio & Appliance Co., a Philco dealer, in Brenham, Texas, "Call 2613" 2. A postcard addressed to Rev. H. Hamburg of New Braunfels, TX, post dated Marlin, Tex. Dec. 14, 1907. German script on the reverse dated Dec. 13, 1907, indicating that money in the amount of $1.10 received, possibly for a Methodist Church Conference. 3. A Sears, Roebuck and Co. order envelope, Alvin Eschberger, McDade, Texas, on the front, ca. WWII. "Before sealing be sure to: ...No. 6. Include Ration Stamps when necessary..." 4. An order envelope for Studer's, San Antonio, Austin, Corpus Christi with two coupons for a "Free 5x7 black & white enlargement...not good after July 1960." 5. An name and address (J.R. Campbell, P.O. Box 3218, Queensboro Sta., Shreveport, La.) on note paper of the The Texas and Pacific RY. (The Texas and Pacific Railway) The Direct Way--Serving the Growing Southwest. Found in Shreveport, LA First Lutheran Collection 6. An ink blotter advertising the D. Rerker & Company of Chicago, Illinois, "Chicago's Sole Representatives of pure communion wine, Beaulieu Vineyard, Rutherford, California" 7. The magazine titled "One...for Lutheran Youth" dated September 1961, with selected articles from the first ten years of the magazine. 8. A postcard addressed to Mr. Norman Hansen of Cooledge, Tex. from the Clint and Ben Shirley Live Stock Commission Co., Fort Worth, Texas, with the market news on the reverse, dated Friday, March 6th, 1942, for "Best White Face and Good Red Cattle; Common Quality Classes Including Jerseys, Holstein, Brindles Comon Reds; Hogs; Sheep" 9. A fold-out map with points of interest and pamphlet with a history of Brownsville, Tx, issued by the Brownsville Convention & Visitors Bureau, Inc. "Come On Down!" ca. 1990. 10. A 9.5x6.5 envelope addressed to Rev. W.A. Flachmeier at 408 West 45th St., Austin 5, Texas at The American Lutheran Church's Southern District offices. 11. A financial report titled: "1930 Lutheran Home for Women 1938. The Board of Directors submit corrections in Woman's Missionary Society's Financial reports in Mission Tidings from 1929 to 1938." Report found in a Mission Tidings 1940 issue. 12. A newspaper for Park Place Lutheran Church, Houston, Texas, dated Friday, February 6, 1961. The article titled "Last Issue of this Paper, Feb. 13" is circled; it states that the All Church Press will no longer print the newspaper for Park Place Lutheran. 13. A copy of the Commencement Exercies, Lutheran College, Thursday, May 31, 1928 at 7:45 P.M. Program. Copied from the Collections in The Center for American History, The University of Texas at Austin. 14. Stationary (3) and matching envelopes (4) embossed with Driskill, from The Driskill Hotel, One Seventeen East Seventh Street, Austin, Texas 78701. Found in the Kurt Hartmann folder on the Texas Conference of Churches. 15. An old, typed copy of a 3 page newspaper article by Wille Mae Weinert in Seguin Enterprise, February 11, 1938, titled "Col. Juan N. Seguin" which gives a history of the man for whom Seguin, Tx is named. "In preparing the material for the plate which hangs beneath the painting of Juan N. Seguin in the Municipal Building, my data was secured from Guillermo M. Seguin of Eagle Pass, a grandson of Juan Seguin." 16. A copy of the newsletter The Y's Adviser, the Shreveport, LA Y.M.C.A.'s Men's Club dated February 9, 1955. 17. An announcement for the Area Country School Reunion, for Sunday, October 4, 1987 and a schedule for activities for that day in Washington Co., Brenham, TX. The Mission Festival Worship Service was to be held at St. John's Lutheran Church, Prairie Hill. 18. A 9x12 envelope, Building ;& Finance Committee written on the front; the return address is an advertisement for "A Magnificent Motion Picture for our time...Martin Luther. Starts Sunday, June 20th, Marjestic Theatre, Shreveport, [LA]. For additional materials, Please phone 2-6755" 19. A Park Place Lutheran newspaper article and advertisement for "A Magnificent Motion Picture for Our Time...[Martin Luther], at Kirby Theater, June 19-22, [1953] Unanimously endored sby the Council of Churches of Greater Houston in the Houston Times, All Church Press, dated June 19, 1953. Another newspaper ad for Lutheran Mutual Life Insurance Co. from a May 1951 issue. Another newspaper dated February 10, 1950 with news of Park Place Lutheran. 20. A booklet titled the "200th Anniversary of the Founding of the Stroudsburgs, 1730-1930. 1730 Anniversary Program 1930, August 27, 28, 29" Stroudsburg, PA. 21. A framed in poor condition (holes) wedding certificate dated July 14, 1871, for the marriage of Herman Dietrich Gerh. Meyer of Wadenburg, Oldenburg to Anna Sophie Frerich of Wadenburg, Oldenburg on July 14, 1871, witnessed by Johanna, wife of C.C. Rudi, signed by C.C. Rudi, Evanglical Lutheran pastor at Black Jack Springs, Fayette Co. Texas. On the reverse side of the frame: "This goes to one of the neices [sic]. Given to UDML [United Dr. Martin Luther], Shiner--To Archives, H.C. Eckert. This Grandpa Meyer, Father, married with his first wife their [sic] were two children. Grandpa Meyer, his siter Sophia Sander, then he married again his first wife died then their [sic] were 5 children." 22. A 4x9" card titled "How to Identify Them - Army/Navy" printed by the Service Commission of the National Lutheran Council 1941. The card shows how to identify Army and Navy officers' rank by the insignia on their uniforms. Various areas of the card are titled: Army Officers Insignia of Rank; Cap Insignia; Enlisted Men's Insignia of Grade; Navy Officers Insignia of Rank; Brank Insignia; Badges; Corps Insignia. The card also lists the Lutheran Service Centers in the United States and also the Parish Centers. 23. Two issues of the Victoria Advocate newspaper, Victoria, Texas, celebrating the 88th anniversary of the newspaper with articles of an historical nature about local organizations and their beginnings in the community...including the churches and educational institutions of Victoria. 24. "International Cross and Crown Certificate of Attendance for Teachers. This certifies that Rev. A.G. Wiederanders a member of tthis Sunday School has earned the solid gold Cross and Crown badge the Official Emblem of our School, having fulfilled all the requirements of regular attendance..." Last Sunday in Trinity Season, 1928. St. John's Lutheran, Robstown, TX" 25. A red booklet, 3.5" x 5.5", titled "The Gospel of John the Apostle: Titles and Divisions of Chaopters Emphasized and Underscored and Specially Prepared Helps for Christian Workers" arranged by T.C.
