Monthalia Lutheran Church (ALC) belonged in a parish with First Lutheran Church of Gonzales from 1921-1945 and shared pastor. Members transferred to Gonzales when Monthalia disbanded. At the beginning the Monthalia pastor also held services in Ottine. Lutherans living in Cost may also have attended Grace in Monthalia. There is a Monthalia Lutheran Church Cemetery.
