Correspondence, photos, newspaper articles, and other information concerning the preservation and relocation of the old church building to the Texas Agriculture Education and Heritage Center in Seguin; a copy of Chapter 4 (Zion Lutheran Church) of A History of United Dr. Martin Luther Church 1888-1995 by Pastor H. Charles Eckert. This Chapter contains copied Parish Records from 1891-1948. (The Original Register Book, or Parish Records Book, is located at the Friench Simpson Memorial Library in Hallettsville, Texas.) |

The church building that was Zion Lutheran Church at Charlottenburg has been restored and is now (2017) located at the Texas Agricultural Education and Heritage Center ( The Big Red Barn) in Seguin, Texas. See their web site for more information (http://texagedu.org/the-venue/the-church/) . Zion Lutheran Church together with Emmanuel Lutheran of Dreyer, St. Paul Lutheran of Shiner, Immanuel Lutheran of Shiner (LCMS) together with Dr. Martin Luther Lutheran Church of Shiner, merged to become one congregation and named it United Dr. Martin Luther Lutheran Church of Shiner. This merger happened over a 40 year period and was completed in 1959. (Copied from Historical Sketch, St. Paul's Lutheran Church of Baytown. They received the church bell from Zion in 1948.) When Zion closed, the congregation made decisions to disband the church and to organize a Cemetery Association. Members then joined either St. Peter Lutheran in Hallettsville, or Zion of Moulton, or Evangelical Lutheran of Witting, or United Dr. Martin Luther Church in Shiner. |
