Christ the King was started by Augustana Lutheran Synod. Housed the Bach Society which was founded in 1982 by an interest group within the congregation. Developed by the Department of American Missions of the Evangelical Lutheran Church and named Memorial Forest Lutheran Church, later Memorial Drive Lutheran Church. On March 13, 2022, Memorial Drive Lutheran Church was recognized as a closing congregation and ritually received as a congregation to serve as a second campus of Christ the King Lutheran Church.
