Ascension Lutheran Church, an LCA congregation, started meeting as a mission is 1955 and organized as a congregation in 1957. About 1971, Ascension merged with a former ALC congregation, Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in Lubbock, under the name Gloria Dei Lutheran Church in Lubbock.
