Buckhorn Community (Bell County) was (is) southwest of Moody (McLennan County) at FM 2601 near intersection with Moody Leon Road. Very near to the east of that location is Buckhorn Cemetery Road off 2601. Land was donated to the Methodist Church and the Lutheran Church in 1909 to use as cemeteries. Pastors from Zion Lutheran Church in McGregor served the Buckhorn congregation one Sunday afternoon a month and possible on special occasions. This congregation later (c.a. early 1930s) became known as St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Moody, Texas. In 1948 St. Paul's disbanded and merged with Zion. Some records may have been taken to Zion. The original Parish Record book is in the Region 4 Archives (2013.21.1) and a microfilmed copy from May 1981 by the ALC is at the archives at the ELCA in Chicago. |
