This book "Heroes of the Saddle Bags: A History of Christian Denominations in The Republic of Texas" by Jesse Guy Smith was given to Emily Jo Flachmeier as a part of the Leslie Waggener Memorial Award for Honorable Mention in the 1956 Junior Historian Writing Contest with the best wishes and congratulations of the Texas State Historical Association, signed by the Director.
