Trinity Lutheran Church began in 1898, grew so that it started a mission congregation in the west section of El Campo which became Christ Lutheran Church in 1959. In 1988 some of Trinity's members left and formed First Lutheran Church. After much conversation by members of the three congregations about how they might work together, and guidance from the ELCA Synod, Trinity merged with Christ.in 1997. Pastor Lampe started conducting worship at Carancahua School and in 1938, Christ Lutheran Church was organized. In 1944 they became part of Trinity Lutheran in El Campo.
