From his memoir: "January 1, 1915, I followed a call of the Mission Board to New Orleans, La. Here I supplied St. Luke's Mission and Grace congregation until Easter, when having accepted a call to Grace, I moved my family to that city. Owing to illness in the family, caused by climatic fever, I followed a call to Petersburg, Ohio, after a service of only 2 years and 5 months. Following is a summary of my official acts in New Orleans: Sermons delivered, 329; Catechetical lectures, 249; infants baptized, 24; adults, 2; youths confirmed, 48; adults, 7; members received, 38; marriages, 5; funerals,11; communed, 737; calls and visits, 11764. During my residence in Columbus, Ohio, I served as a member of the Mission Board, News Editor of The Lutheran Standard, Treasurer of the English District, and Board of Aids, plan to merge all Joint Synod treasuries in the office." |
