On the reverse of the plate: "St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church of Brenham was founded on October 29, 1890 by Pastor Gottlieb Langner. Other Pastors of the congregation include: E.A. Sagebiel, Arthur Hartmann, Theo. Streng, Thomas Swygert, Gary Bruns, James Boyd, Mark Fetter, Edwin Lampe, Brian Nunnally and Kenneth Moerbe. The first church building was dedicated on February 22, 1891. The facility was destroyed and replaced with the second church on June 2, 1901. A third church was dedicated on December 27, 1925. The present educational area and fellowship hall were dedicated to the glory of God in 1974. Thanks be to God!" Stephen Clark served as an intern at St. Paul's in 1968 under the pastorate of Thomas Swygert. |
